BONNEVAL CASTLE
This square-shaped castle, with its large round towers at each end, is majestic and impressive
Owned for ten centuries by the same lineage (the de Bonneval family), this square-shaped château stands out with its large, round towers at each end, majestic and impressive. Still inhabited today, it towers over the village from the top of its hill. Guided tours take you through a succession of richly furnished rooms, decorated with paintings, woodwork and tapestries (including some from Aubusson and Fontainebleau), all steeped in different histories. You'll discover the bedroom of our most illustrious ancestor, Count Claude Alexandre, nicknamed "the Pasha with three tails", whose eventful life is recounted in various books. You may be lucky enough to bump into the marquis and marquise, who are always happy to provide explanations and anecdotes about the family and the château. Outside, you'll never tire of admiring the superb architecture: tri-lobed keep, double drawbridge leading to the inner courtyard, outdoor gallery and lions on the terrace. Concerts, plays, conferences and exhibitions take place every summer in the château's inner courtyard. For adventurous youngsters aged 4 to 12, the château becomes a playground, with a guided tour in costume, a creative workshop and a tea party: enough to bring the youngest adventurers to life! And to prolong the magic, book the Panda gîte and enjoy a luxurious stay in the château's 15 hectares of parkland and gardens. A place steeped in history that will delight young and old alike!
