THE COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SAINT ETIENNE
A collegiate church with Romanesque and Gothic architecture, featuring three high square floors, glass windows and a Limousin portal.
This collegiate church boasts a remarkable blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Originally the church of the chapter of canons, it was built on the site of an earlier monastery, of which only two bays and the fortified bell tower, covered in chestnut shingles and composed of three high square storeys, remain. The Gothic choir is illuminated by sixteen 15th-century stained glass windows, forming one of the finest stained glass ensembles in the Limousin region, and is listed as a historic monument. Also of note: the superb Limousin portal.
