ST. EUTROPIUS CHURCH
This church is one of the few to have preserved its original frescoes
A masterpiece of Romanesque art. Built in the late 11th and early 12th centuries, the church of Saint-Eutrope is an impressive edifice, as much for its architecture as for its murals. Discovered under layers of plaster in 1986, they reveal an iconography unrivalled in Europe. These Romanesque frescoes (200 m²) depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments, and are distinguished by their theme, quality and the richness of the colors used. Also worth seeing: the fountain dedicated to Saint Eutrope and the priory, open to the public in summer.
