L'EICOLA DAU BARBICHET
Founded in 1923, the Dau Dau Dau is the oldest folk group in Limousin. It perpetuates traditional dances and musics. First, with and its many variants (the crouzado, the escloupette, with of Brigueil, the confolentaise, etc.), but also the jasse, the pépue, the pas-de-loup… Not forgetting the more common Scottish rounds, Quadrilles and Dances, mazurka and polka, always very popular with the public. A dozen ménétriers accompany these ladies, and instrumental training includes old wheels, chabrettes, violins and minions. The repertoire includes liturgical songs in patois. The Barbichets are also present for midnight mass, as well as for traditional festivals such as the Frairie des Petites Ventre or the Quintaine in Saint-Léonard-de-Purse. They also make surviving customs lost like the quest for eggs: On the Sunday before Easter, the men tour the villages and return eggs. Popular tradition means that the resulting omelet protects snake bites.
