Aquarium featuring 300 different species, presented in 800 m² of exhibition space in some 40 tanks
Located in an atypical 1000 m² site, a former vaulted water reservoir, the Aquarium invites you to discover over 380 aquatic species from around the world. Fish from our rivers, freshwater species from far away, atypical aquatic reptiles, tropical fish in shimmering colors... Over 3800 aquatic animals are presented in 800 m² of exhibition space in some forty basins. The décor is magical: you'll feel like you're in a submarine... complete with televisions and digital picture frames.
The tour is designed as an around-the-world voyage through all the world's waters. Journey through Europe's temperate freshwaters to meet native species (sturgeon, catfish and the enormous wels catfish). Tropical freshwaters reveal an underwater fauna populated by electric fish and glass catfish. The clownfish and its anemone, the surgeonfish and the shimmering kashmir fish navigate the tropical seas. Among the stars: Teddy and Lili, two magnificent blacktip sharks. You can also admire the stonefish, the most dangerous fish in the world, turtles and a variety of rays: the blue-tip ray, the guitar ray and the curly ray..
Since it opened in 1993, the Aquarium de Limoges has also become the only aquatic animal sanctuary in Central France.
There's plenty to discover: guided tours, themed evenings, exhibitions, games and rallies for young and old alike.
