SAINT-PIERRE-DU-QUEYROIX CHURCH
Aligned with the founding axes of the Roman city (Queroix meaning), this religious building suggests that it is the oldest church in Limoges. It is called by the Limougeauds the church of the lower, because located in the bottom of the city, and is often compared to the church Saint-Michel-des-Lions. Ravaged by a fire, the primitive church was rebuilt from 1213. The only remnant of this period is the portal of Romanesque style. The rest of the building was reworked until the th century. The porch is a fine example of the religious architecture of Limousin. The building is rich in furniture, statues, th century shrines. The stained glass window above the master altar is a work by Leonard Pénicaud, a member of the oldest émailleurs limousine dynasty.
