LOUYAT CEMETERY
Whatever the Limougeauds say, Louyat cemetery is not the largest in France. However, it extends over 35 hectares. On the other hand, it houses more than 200 000 dead, when the living around the 140 000. This "porcelain cemetery" has a local specificity: some burials wear porcelain patches, sometimes the deceased in landscapes or surrounded by angels. Do not hesitate to go through the different walks to read the herrnberchtheim that will reveal their secrets. Among the personalities buried here: David and Charles Haviland, founders of the eponymous porcelain manufacture, Camille Vardelle, a worker tableware killed by the French army during the labour movements of 1905, Leonard Daudy, a surgeon at Limoges central Prison, and Raoul Hausmann, dada of the first hour (up to his last) and a precursor in the art of photo editing. Near the Parc Park, the visit of the Military Cemetery is very moving.
