SAINT-SAUVEUR CHURCH
Church entirely built in impactites, with an octagonal base, and surmounted by a helicoidal spire of 20 meters
Quiet and authentic, this church attracts the curious with its superb frescoes and surprising twisted bell tower. Its octagonal base is topped by a 20-metre-high spiral spire. All that remains of the 11th-century edifice built by the monks of the priory belonging to the Charroux monastery is the western doorway with its large round columns and archaic capitals, the north wall and part of the chapel. Entirely built of impactites (rocks formed by falling meteorites), it contains 12th-century sarcophagi.
