VALMATE CASTLE (OR WALMATH)
We owe this th century castle of inspiration Louis XIII to an extraordinary man born in Limoges: Jean-Baptiste Mignon, great inventor who had to his assets a deposit of over patents of inventions destined for the railways and metal constructions. He is the creator of the superb metal structure of the Agricole agricultural building, also named Walmath and the greenhouses that adorn the park. It had been landscaped in the taste of the great landscaped parks of the time and, in addition to many rare essences, had unusual architectural features, such as a copy of the staircase of the hotel of the Legion of Honour in Paris. The daughter of this Arts and Crafts engineer even built a New Renaissance chapel in 1905. In ruins and plundered in the 1990 s, it was then acquired by the Duchambon family, which renovated it with taste and character. Today, two rooms are for rent. A suite with a bedroom with a living room with piano and private health (130 € at night). A family suite with two bedrooms with private bathroom, living room with French billiard (150 € at night). Possibility to rent a reception room and a collection car with driver.
