BASTIN TANNERY
A tannery that produces leather the old-fashioned way, with a variety of time-consuming processing phases for maximum quality.
Tanning has been one of the town's main activities since the Middle Ages. The Bastin family tannery, established at Moulin Follet in the late 19th century, is now home to JM Weston. Here, the leather used for shoe soles is produced in a variety of time-consuming processing phases. Old-fashioned methods that give the tan the time it needs for maximum quality: hide processing, cleaning, vegetable tannin bath, maceration, open-air drying... The premises can be visited for a few days during the summer, subject to prior booking.
