ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH CHURCH
At the exit of this church, you can admire the magnificent view of the surrounding countryside
Situated about fifteen kilometres from Nancy, the hilltop village of Amance is home to a charming parish church. Nothing remains of the primitive church, dating from the 11th century. In the 15th century, it was rebuilt in a flamboyant Gothic style. The chapel, on the other hand, was built a century later, in the 16th century. The most remarkable architectural feature is undoubtedly the porch tower, built between 1766 and 1776, according to the plans of the architect Pierre Lirès, a native of Nancy. The exterior spire as well as the interior cross vaults and the altar dedicated to Saint John the Baptist (at the end of the south aisle) date from the 19th century. As you leave the church, don't miss the magnificent view of the surrounding countryside, sitting quietly on a bench in the shade of the Lebanese cedar tree... A detour that's worth a look!
