THE CHAPEL OF SAINTE-ANNE
Chapel that was originally intended for the workers of the crystal works, built in 1775 in Baccarat
Built in 1775 and erected as a branch of the parish of Deneuvre in 1802, the Sainte-Anne chapel was originally intended for the workers of the crystal works. It is part of a group of buildings consisting of a castle, a factory, offices and workers' houses, which testifies to the important industrial past of the place. This chapel is sober and simple in its architecture, which gives it a singular charm. Square in shape, its facade is covered with ochre-coloured rubble. The choir is only visible from the outside, going around the small religious building. In the past, the roof of the chapel was completely covered with slates. Today, only the bell tower remains as a pavilion. Currently, the chapel is only open during the summer period and hosts temporary exhibitions in connection with the Museum of Crystalworks and the history of Baccarat, but also concerts, as the chapel is a perfect acoustic and visual showcase.
