Last vestige of a powerful Burgundian keep of the XIIth century, located on a hillock dominating the village of Bainville-aux-Miroirs.
On a hillock overlooking the village rises a 25 m high stone needle. It is nicknamed the Devil's Tooth. It is in fact a narrow section of wall all in height, last vestige of a powerful Burgundian keep of the XIIth century, erected there to watch over the Moselle located below. These ruins remind us of the importance of the possessions of the Counts of Vaudémont. Besieged and taken by the Lorrains in 1468, the keep was dismantled and never rebuilt. The name of Bainville " aux miroirs " (Bainville with mirrors) refers to an old artisanal mirror factory, which existed in these places before the Thirty Years War. To be seen during your stay in the area.
