THE BLANZEY CHAPEL
A highly intimate and uncluttered place, conducive to calm and meditation, in a rural environment.
Bouxières-aux-Chênes is a high perched village, located between Leyr and Amance, in a very rural environment. But the jewel of the village is the small chapel of Blanzey. Classified as a historical monument, pilgrims, visitors and hikers come in small groups to discover it. This place, highly intimate and bare, is conducive to calm and meditation ... Here, time seems to have stopped, giving way to a peaceful universe, where meditation and humility are the deepest values... Originally, it was a former priory of the 12th century, founded by the abbey of Sainte-Marie-aux-Bois (belonging to the Premonstratensian order). Today, the choir and the apse, designed in the pure tradition of Romanesque architecture, can still be seen. The crypt, restored in 1956, is also worth a visit. The priory is registered as a historical monument.
