BELLEFONTAINE VALLEY
Natural site consisting of a stream, ponds, meadows and limestone lawns, which is home to a rich and diverse nature.
Consisting of a stream, two ponds, wetlands, meadows and some limestone lawns, the very wooded Vallon de Bellefontaine, adjoining the no less massive woodland of the Forêt de Haye, is an exceptional natural site. This mosaic of environments shelters a rich and diversified nature closely linked to water. Inventories carried out between 2004 and 2005 identified nearly 1,500 animal and plant species. Among the most original are the Scorpion Fly and the Yellow Fly, a plant... that grows in the mountains! The Vallon is also home to the largest population of amphibians in the department! A 2.2 km educational trail, accessible to people with reduced mobility, is laid out around the Bel'Étang. Finally, numerous activities and events are organised throughout the year to help you better understand the richness of this exceptional natural site. The departmental council, owner and manager of the site, ensures the preservation of the natural environment and sets up walking itineraries.
Access: from the Champigneulles swimming pool, take the rue des Talintés and follow the path along the pond
