A fresco testifying to the golden age that has passed, despite the deindustrialization that northern Lorraine has been undergoing since the 1970s.
It is true that this part of the region is not the most laughable. It is not easy to recover from the sudden de-industrialization that fell on northern Lorraine from the 1970s onwards. In spite of the apparent dullness of the place, these towns deserted by the big mining and iron and steel groups are interesting to visit because they bear witness to this past golden age. The mural fresco of Crusnes is a good example. One can see the drawing of Saint Barbara protecting the coal and iron miners, firemen and artillerymen with her mantle. On the left a wagon taking out the ore is on the rails, a worker is leaning on it. Another looks towards the mine, a cable in his hand. In the centre, behind a small group of villagers, a man and a woman are holding a banner with the message "Iron People of the Earth and Deep Down, may the struggle not die from our memory in the face of injustice", and two other women to the woman's left carry a sign demanding that their husbands' jobs be safeguarded. Situated below the church, opposite the bar-tabac le Cinq in the direction of Aumetz, it is visible from the departmental road 521. To visit, if only for support and solidarity!
