MUSEUM OF THE SOURCES OF HERCULES
Museum located in Deneuvre, near Baccarat, presents the wealth of the archaeological site discovered in 1974
At the Shrine of Hercules, created around 150, pilgrims came to bathe in the purifying water gushing from natural springs and made a vow. That this wish came true and the pilgrim offered an ex-voto. The sanctuary has been faithfully reconstructed thanks to the indications of archaeologists who have been excavating the site for 12 years. This museum, located in Deneuvre, near Baccarat, presents the richness of the archaeological site discovered in 1974: 70 statues dedicated to Hercules and fashioned from the same stone, three basins and small objects (from the 2nd to the 4th century AD). The importance of this collection makes this site the most important sanctuary ever discovered in Gaul.
