The oldest Romanesque church in Lorraine that still retains its original layout, founded in 1080
Architecturally, it is the oldest Romanesque church in Lorraine that still retains its original layout founded in 1080. Only the Gothic-style choir was redesigned in the 15th century, as was the adjoining cloister. Historically, among the first Cluniac priories in Lorraine, the monastery of Froville participates in the expansion of the Order of Cluny throughout Europe. On the technical level, the church has the particularity of possessing exceptional acoustics and thus allows the broadcasting or recording of high quality musical works. From May to July, the site welcomes artists of international renown as part of the Festival of Sacred and Baroque Music. Since 1998, this festival has acquired an international dimension that seduces by the quality of its programming and the magic that emanates from this place steeped in history. An ideal place which benefits from excellent acoustics due to the presence of the flat ceiling.
