SITE OF THE CASTLE OF GERBÉVILLER (GARDENS AND PALATINE CHAPEL)
A romantic park classified as a historic monument, where you can discover many little secrets
With the arrival of fine weather, the opening of the park and gardens of the Château de Gerbéviller is a delight for tourists and locals alike... From then on, the Marquise d'Arembert opens the gates and you can stroll with delight in a romantic park classified as a historical monument. There are many little secrets to be found in this vast property, things you would never suspect in this small town located 15 km from Lunéville: the Louis XIII pavilion, the Chamber Gardens, the Palatine Chapel, the superb view towards the Mortagne valley, the 1900 Garden celebrating the Ecole de Nancy, not forgetting the Nymphée, a cave with a monumental staircase, unique in France. The first layout of the Marquisate of Gerbéviller was designed in 1621, but it was in the 18th century that Camille de Lambertye had the castle built, which survived until 1914. After its total destruction by the Germans at the beginning of the First World War the Marquis Charles de Lambertye rebuilt it, with the help of the architect Albert Laprade. Only the outer walls of the old building were preserved. Of course, the castle cannot be visited, but the beauty of the garden which benefits from the label "Remarkable Garden" is such that it makes you forget everything else!
