Workshop run by Didier Marchal, offering courses in antique book restoration and bookbinding
The Atelier de reliures d'art Marchal in Illkirch-Graffenstaden is unique in France. With over 4,000 gilding irons, one of the largest collections in France, this workshop offers an immersion in a craft that has become rare. As an active member of the Espace Européen Gutenberg, in collaboration with the Gutenberg and Corbusier high schools, the workshop has established itself as a welcoming place of learning. As part of the Ateliers réunis "Reliures et Créations", and in partnership with Atelier SAREL in Mulhouse, this space encourages exchanges between bookbinders. All in all, it's a fine workshop well worth a visit.
