DROITAUMONT MARSHLANDS
A marsh at Droitaumont in Jarny, comprising a vast expanse of reeds, small areas of water, woodland and meadows.
Located about fifteen kilometers south of Briey and near Jarny, the Droitaumont marsh is a natural area of about thirty hectares. Fed by the waters of the Yron, it is composed of a vast expanse of reeds, small areas of water, woodlands and meadows. This marshy area is a wonderful ecosystem for the fauna and flora of the region. It is a paradise for nesting birds: bluebird, marsh harrier or water rail. Labelled as a sensitive natural area, the Marais de Droitaumont benefits from a policy of protection and rehabilitation, making it an essential natural area. Guided tours are occasionally organized and since 2015 you can also venture out on your own, along the interpretation trail. This 1.7 km long trail has been designed to allow you to discover the site in great detail. Paper booklets are available at the Conseil Départemental or in public places in Jarnisy (Jarny and Conflans town halls, media library, youth services, etc.). They allow you to discover the mystery and the life that revolves around the marsh. The booklet is accompanied by a game sheet (to print yourself) which allows the youngest to live this discovery in a playful way. The booklet can also be interactive with codes that you scan with your smartphone (to hear bird songs for example). A very nice and instructive walk to consider.
