SAINTE-AGATHE CHURCH
Romanesque-Gothic church located in Longuyon, with a tower and rich furnishings such as 14th century statues
Overlooking the valleys of the Chiers and Crusnes rivers, overlooking the Mazelle district, this Romanesque-Gothic style church was first mentioned in 634 and consecrated in 1287. Built on the site of a former 7th century chapel, it has a tower, the oldest vestige of the town of Longuyon. Inside, it houses a rich furniture: statues from the 14th and 16th centuries, an altar unique in Lorraine, composed of two floors and a painting from the Romantic period representing the martyrdom of Saint Agatha, of a striking realism.
