THE SEAT WELL
Discover the five wells once dug in Longwy, of which the Siège well is the only one still standing today.
The Siege Well was built between 1679 and 1690 to supply the civilian population with water. Its round shape and finely designed architecture (pilasters, high windows) give it a resolutely classical style. With its 12 m diameter, it reaches a depth of about 60 m! Permanently supplied with water, it collected water from two neighbouring springs. Of the five wells dug in the past, it is the only one still standing today and is an essential part of the guided tour of Vauban's fortifications.
