THE SEAT WELL
Today, only the well of the Place of Arms remains. It welcomes the tourist office. The only well for civilians, the well of the Place d'Armes was powered by a large wheel inside which two men walked. In the th century, five wells were fed the citadel. That of the Place de l'Place, that of the Cadets, that of the Infantry, that of the Cavalry, and one for the Governor's House. The main well of the Place de Armes is 60 m deep and 12 m in diameter. It gathers the waters from two nearby sources, 35 and 43 m from the level of the square, respectively.
