THE SYNAGOGUE
Synagogue built in 1786 by the architect Augustin-Charles Piroux, in a style mixing classical Greek art and baroque in Lunéville
The synagogue of Lunéville was built in 1786 by the architect Augustin-Charles Piroux, on the initiative of the syndic of the Jews of Lunéville, Abraham Isaac Brisac. It is distinguished by a style that combines classical Greek art and baroque, while respecting the architectural tradition of Lorraine. The façade is made of pink sandstone and the oculus is topped with decorative vine branches. Some remarkable liturgical objects can be admired: a nine-branched candlestick, polychrome earthenware vases and a Baccarat crystal chandelier with pendants.
