A historic district with a baroque collegiate church overlooking the city of Lunéville, with towers topped with statues
This historic district is the subject of a rehabilitation programme. Renovated, the old town, the "old town" for those close to you, invites you to go for a walk. From the main courtyard of the castle, we cross the arches of the Pont Rouge, made of red Vosges sandstone, to arrive in front of the Maison du Marchand. A few steps away, the church of Saint-Jacques stands out to impose itself on us. This baroque-style collegiate church dominates the town with its two 52 m high towers, surmounted by two enormous statues of Saint Michael and Saint John Nepomucene, signed Guibal. The facade is adorned with a monumental clock that invites us to continue the walk in this cobbled street. Going around the church, we find ourselves in front of the town hall. During the day, the benches of the small square will invite us to take a break in front of the flowered flowerbeds. In the evening on the other hand, let us admire the illuminated facade of the town hall and the pretty Banaudon street, a shopping street entirely renovated in 2011. From the Maison du Marchand, visitors can also venture to the other side and face the magnificent Theatre. In any case, the tour is easily done on foot and, in summer, the tourist reception of Le Lunévillois even offers to do it in groups, upon registration. Drowned in a green setting, Lunéville offers its inhabitants the advantages of a town in the countryside, respectful of the environment and concerned about the quality of life.
