DAX TOURISME
The Fontaine Chaude (Hot Fountain), located on the Place de la Fontaine Chaude in Dax, is one of the town's most emblematic tourist attractions. Built in the 19th century on the supposed site of the ancient Roman thermal baths, it is the symbol of the spa town. The fountain has a daily output of 2,400,000 liters of water at a high temperature of 64°C, coming from a depth of 2,000m. In the Fontaine Chaude basin, you can observe a bloom of algae which, mixed with Adour silt and thermal water, are used to make Dax thermal mud, used in rheumatology. The Tourist Office offers regular tours of the production center. La Fontaine Chaude is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
