THE ARENAS
An imposing building with red tiles and shutters on a white background
Although the bullring was built in 1913 and enlarged in 1932, the history of bullfighting began on the town's streets in 1784 and on the Place de la Course in 1813, with the first wooden arenas. The current building, designed by Landes architect Albert Pomade in a Hispano-Moorish style, is an imposing structure with red tiles and shutters on a white background. Its architecture is reminiscent of the plazas de toros in Seville, Cordoba and Granada. With a seating capacity of 8,000, it is the largest bullring in the Landes region.
