MONSOON MOUND
Butte de Mousson with some ruins of a castle, offering an exceptional panorama on the whole of the Mussipontain Country
381 meters above the city of Pont-à-Mousson. Discover the hill of Mousson, also called the "hill of Mousson". In the 9th century, a fortified castle was built here, nicknamed the castrum montionis, or the "castle of the mountain". After having resisted many assaults over the centuries, it was destroyed by an American bombardment at the end of the Second World War, in 1944. Nowadays, only a few ruins remain at the top of the hill. The site offers an exceptional panorama on the whole of the Mussipontain Country.
