LES PILOTES DE PROXIMITÉ
Faced with the large number of domestic animals, particularly dogs, the town is trying to respond in its own way, so that owners and others can live together in harmony. To this end, "PROXIMITY PILOTS" are on hand to explain how to behave, and provide information on the many "canisites" set up around town. These same people are authorized to issue fines should the animal and owner be caught in the act of littering the sidewalk. Two methods of repression have been introduced: invoicing, a cleaning service costing €56 issued by the local pilots; and fines, a possibility of up to €190 issued by the municipal police. It should also be noted that the canisites are maintained daily, that canisacs and litter garbage cans are available throughout the city, and that dog-friendly areas are being developed.
