BUREAU DU SERVICE NATIONAL
The service for the organisation of JAPD - the Day of Call for Defence Preparedness - left the premises of the Thiry Barracks to settle in the Verneau district. Less extensive, better organised, new premises are upgraded and a new archiving system allows more rational storage of files. 30 000 young people go through here every year to discover the world of defence. Trades, citizens'responsibilities, test of the evaluation of the achievements of the French language, maintenance and initiation of the elementary gestures of the first day of the day are the programme of the famous appeal day set up in 1998 following the end of the National Service. At the end of the day, each person receives a certificate of participation, an essential passport to register for the driving licence, to go through administrative competitions or to conduct higher education.
