A welcoming market square, the René II statue and the famous Saint-Epvre basilica, Nancy's busiest square.
Created in the 12th and 13th centuries under Duke René II, it was modified in the 15th century to become Nancy's busiest square, with its market and shops. Dominating the square is the famous neo-Gothic Saint-Epvre Basilica, well worth a visit. At the center of the square stands Mathias Schiff's statue of René II, erected to mark Abbé Trouillet's jubilee. Today, the square is packed with bars, restaurants and patisseries, and is a popular spot for Nancé residents of all ages, at all hours of the day and night.
