SAN MARTIN CHURCH
This church, located a few kilometers from Metz and Nancy, is one of the 254 churches in Lorraine dedicated to the cult of Saint Martin
A few kilometres from Metz and Nancy, this old Romanesque church, known as "de type halle", was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century. It still has some remains from this period, in the lower part of the bell tower. There are also many elements of the 18th century, some of which are classified as Historic Monuments (category objects). These include the high altar, beautiful side altars and gilded woodwork from 1720, not forgetting the stained glass windows signed Jacques Grüber, a master glassworker of the Ecole de Nancy in the 19th century. It is one of the 254 churches in Lorraine dedicated to the cult of Saint Martin, bishop of Tours in the 4th century. From the ancient cemetery that surrounded the church until 1854, only a few funeral plaques remain, the oldest of which, that of Antoine Bras de Fer, dating from 1569.
