This abbey, with its magnificent gardens, is a unique place, listed as a Historic Monument since 1919.

The Abbey of the Premonstratensians is a unique place in Lorraine, and the most beautiful example of monastic architecture in the region. Instigated in 1608 by the Premonstratensian community of Sainte-Marie-aux-Bois, it was built a century later. In 1964, the abbey was transformed into a cultural centre and is managed by an association whose vocation is to safeguard its heritage, disseminate its history and promote cultural events. In this stone and green setting, classified as a historical monument since 1919, you should linger in the abbey church of Sainte-Marie-Majeure and its magnificent gardens. Inside, the staircases (round, oval and square) are not to be missed. You can even stay in one of the abbey's 71*** rooms (2 of which are accessible to people with reduced mobility), with a view of the gardens or the Moselle River, which guarantee a totally relaxing stay. The abbey is composed of three gardens that cover 2.5 hectares. Created in 2009, the cloister garden or garden of scents offers visitors a fragrant bouquet of plants and flowers during the summer months. The peacefulness of the place, its palette of colours and its varied fauna make it a very popular place. Since March 2018, a formal garden has taken its place at the foot of the large façade of the main courtyard. Following the outline of a regular garden, the flowerbeds are punctuated by topiaries and decorated with ornaments such as obelisks, Anduze vases and benches. A few steps away is the Moselle garden, which runs along the river. This bucolic garden is ideal for relaxation and offers a calm interlude and a beautiful view of the monument and the town of Pont-à-Mousson. This authentic place steeped in history lends itself perfectly to receptions (seminars and private events) and organises temporary exhibitions, children's workshops and aperitif exhibitions open to all throughout the year. The Prémontrés Abbey has 6 historic reception rooms of different sizes which can be arranged according to your wishes, to host various events such as family lunches/dinners or with friends, christenings, communions, birthdays. The plus: cocktails can even be held in the sumptuous gardens, which offer a breathtaking view of the Moselle. On the site you will find a rich and varied cultural programme including exhibitions, concerts, theatre, conferences... An unmissable visit in Lorraine, only 20 minutes from Nancy and Metz.

Une très belle abbaye à visiter avec un petit fascicule papier pour apprécier toute l'architecture des bâtiments. Très beaux escaliers. Il est possible d'y passer la nuit. Il y a un jardin au milieu, mais il est parfois fermé.
I went departing for business reasons and I had advance I benefited from visiting. pretty. to see at least once!
To visit! Huge galleries, a magnificent cloister, very romantic, an incredible library, majestic sculpted stairs! Really, we were not disappointed, this abbey is a small jewel! It is so romantic that it is very frequently reserved for weddings!Today historical monument, it is really the finest example of monastic architecture of Lorraine.
