Museum that allows you to immerse yourself in the brewing culture and collects artistic advertising pieces from various breweries
This museum, open since 1988, allows visitors to immerse themselves in the brewing culture that was present in Saint-Nicolas from 1786 to 1986 in the local brewery, which is now classified as a historical monument. The tasting room, called the Moreau room, is in the style of the Ecole de Nancy, and it is with this room that the visit begins. It takes its name from the family that founded the brewery in Vézelise, which later became the owner of several breweries in Lorraine, including the one in Saint-Nicolas-de-Port. Two stained glass windows by Gruber illustrate the brewing activity and a painting by Zanellato represents the Vézelise brewery at its peak. The collectors' room contains artistic advertising pieces from various French breweries. Another room, that of the old vats and the cooperage, presents the evolution of the equipment. The visit also includes a passage through the malt house, then the laboratory, the hop room, the brewing room, the brewing machine room and finally the old ice houses. A small demonstration brewery allows the visitor to understand the beer making process, to feel the ingredients and to smell the beer. At the end of the visit, you can enjoy a small beer tasting, brewed for the museum. This will make you want to make your own beer!
