ST. GENGOULT'S COLLEGIATE CHURCH
Saint-Gengoult church, a foundation attributed to Saint Gérard, bishop of Toul, defying episcopal authority.
Saint-Gengoult church was founded by Saint Gérard, 33rd bishop of Toul. Partly financed by the burghers of Toul, the religious building embodies a certain autonomy from the power of the bishopric. Burned in 1036 during the wars of the Count of Champagne, the building was restored in 1065 by Bishop Udon. At the same time, he founded the Collegiate Church. The present church, classified as a historical monument, was built from the 13th to the 16th century. The colored stained glass windows date from the 13th century.
