CHAPEL AND CALVARY OF CIRCOURT
Small chapel with bare charm and calvary of Xivry-Circourt, offering a point of interest to the richness of the Lorraine heritage
Before leaving the village of Xivry-Circourt, don't forget to stop in front of this small chapel with its naked charm, facing the meadows. Large rustic stones (bricks, rubble) surround the entrance door. However, the building is private property. That said, you can admire the yellow stone Calvary (known as the Welferding cross) on the front. It was erected in 1806 at the expense of a man named Florimont de Welferding from Xivry-Circourt. A Crucifixion scene can be seen at the top of the Calvary. The small sculpted figures take place on a capital, itself surmounted by plant ornaments. A point of interest to add to the richness of the heritage of Lorraine.
