THE ISLET MILL
It was built on La Marne in 1861 by Charles Gondrand, meunier, and his wife Marguerite Ancot. For a dozen years, the Islottes mill was used to crush the grain of Paysans farmers and neighbouring villages. In 1875, the mill was sold to the Marnaval Forges Company for the preparation of the calcinée magnesia and grinding of the slag. In 1921, it was purchased by the Société Meusienne de Constructions Mécaniques, to accommodate factory staff, before being acquired by ancervilloises families. In 1971, three families acquired the mill to live there. It is a haven of peace for pedestrians bypassing it.
