During a walk in the forest of Ancerville, a strange square tower of red bricks, with a height of 25 m, stands on the way. It is a geodesic chimney, built at the end of the th century at the highest point in the region. When aerial photography did not exist, these chimneys were used as benchmarks for studying the shape and dimensions of the earth. During the Second World War, the army had installed a wooden scaffold, in order to watch the parachute in the fifth column since the summit. First of all in brick, then stone and finally in cement, most of these remains meet in the northern and eastern regions of the Paris basin. These high towers remind us of the time when, in the case of aid wars, it was a priority to map the areas of the front.
