This building, erected after the discovery of a black virgin, is a very popular place of pilgrimage

The building, disproportionate to the size of Avioth, is also nicknamed the Cathedral of the Fields. In 1993, John Paul II raised it to the rank of basilica. Built after the discovery of a black virgin (one of the rare ones of the Grand-Est), the site is a place of very frequented pilgrimage (on July 16th). One can also admire a unique construction in the world, La Recevresse (flamboyant gothic). Every third Sunday of July is usually organized a fair for craftsmen.

La mise à la retraite progressive des anciens propriétaires n'a rien enlevé au charme de l'endroit. La famille a repris à son compte l'héritage et compte bien le pérenniser avec des changements importants. Nous souhaitons bonne chance à cette nouvelle génération et longue vie aux futurs nouveaux retraités.
