ARCHIVES DÉPARTEMENTALES DE LA MEUSE
In a modern building not far from the General Council, the archives retain records of the Old Regime, confiscated during the Revolution, the administrative archives, the press and the books of local history and all the wealth of the Meuse, being 18 kilometres of documents. The oldest retained document dates back to 943. An invaluable treasure, accessible to all. There is an opportunity to conduct research in all departmental funds: Civil status, registers, censuses, military figures, old newspapers and manuscripts… Exhibitions are regularly organized there. A reading room is open to the public and for genealogists, computers are available. Finally, it is possible to borrow itinerant exhibitions on panels of the departmental archives of the Meuse, including La Resistance in Meuse, Cadastral: the cadastre is 200 years old or Calligraphy, the beauty of writing.
