A city with a castle dominating the Ornain valley, with remains of fortifications, animated by the Renaissance festival
The town's most beautiful district, with its castle overlooking the Ornain valley. Remains of the fortifications of the ancient medieval fortress are still visible. Classified as a protected area in 1993, the Renaissance quarter is accessed via a 17th-century staircase. With its 143 steps, it's known as the "80 degrees". As you wander through the streets and alleys, you'll come across the Barrois Museum and the remains of the Dukes' Palace... The Ville-Haute seems to be frozen in the time of the Dukes: old townhouses follow one another all the way to Place Saint-Pierre.
