THE FOUNTAIN OF THE SQUARE
Fountain located in the upper town, supplying drinking water to the inhabitants of the upper town and the castle since 1465
Located in Ville-Haute, the fountain once played an important role in the daily life of Bar-le-Duc's inhabitants during the Ancien Régime. The 1757 monument and the fountain, both in Baroque style, were a popular meeting place. On feast days, it is said, the pineau de Bar flowed freely! Today, the square bears the same name. It's lined with beautiful Renaissance-style houses, just a few meters from the main street. An explanatory panel tells you more about the history of the fountain.
