THE HALL ISLAND
Go there and contact
An island in the Ville-Haute district of Bar-le-Duc, which used to be a trading, storage and production center.
Dating from the 13th and 14th centuries, it was a place of exchange, storage and production, benefiting from numerous privileges. The hall was built during the reign of Count Thiébault II, to channel trade flows. Wood was gradually replaced by stone, and the hall was surrounded by arcaded galleries opening onto a central paved courtyard, a fine Baroque residence and, at the time, stores and homes. The island was damaged by fire in 1788, after which it was radically transformed.
