The French National Agency for Radioactive Waste Management (Andra) is responsible for designing and implementing an industrial geological disposal facility in clay rock 500 metres below the surface. Studies are conducted at the Meuse/Haute-Marne Centre, which includes an underground research laboratory, a technology centre and an environmental library. Guided tours of the Cigéo project and events on the local environment are offered to the public.
