The origin of the priory of Notre-Dame-de-Breuil is blurred. A stone building dating from the th century occupied by nuns, the monastery was entrusted to Benedictine monks from the th century. The mary buildings were completely rebuilt in the early th century under the direction of Dom Léopold Durand. In the th century, he served as a scholastica (residence where young nuns complete their studies). After the Revolution, the Prieurale church was destroyed. The sub-prefecture and the gendarmerie were installed in the buildings until 1835, before the normal school school, closed and transferred to Bar-le-Duc in 1964, which today only remains the entrance door surmounted by a wrought iron grid of 1920. Inside, a four-fly staircase with stone and also wrought iron is one of the last vestiges of the Benedictine era. The priory of Du now hosts the house of the associations of Commercy, the town hall, the office, the school and the post. The building was classified as a historic monument in 1984.
