AVENUE OF LIME TREES
A majestic alley, pierced in 1714, which opens on the forest, an old place of popular and princely pleasure of Commercy.
It's one of Commercy's most photographed landmarks! This majestic avenue, laid out in 1715 by architect Boffrand for the Prince of Vaudémont, was designed to lead people to the château. It extends the avenue Stanislas, which leads to the château. Since then, it has been replanted in 1994 and has become a promenade leading to the forest and now to the college a little further up. Today, you can still find beautiful black-and-white postcards immortalizing scenes of life at the time.
