SAN SEBASTIAN CHURCH
Charming fortified church from the early century, serving as a refuge for inhabitants in case of danger
An annex of Euville, Aulnois-sous-Vertuzey is home to a charming early 17th-century fortified church. Established above the village, its function was to serve as a refuge for the inhabitants in case of danger. Extensive restoration work, completed in 1779, has almost completely erased this defensive aspect, with the exception of the bell tower: a small stone tower with a medieval appearance and three levels pierced by archways. The stonemasons who carried out the work have left their signature on some of the stonework.
