CITY HALL
A hotel that brought together artists to design the plans, interior, staircase, glasswork and stained-glass windows during its construction
Listed as a historic monument since 1992, this Town Hall is the only public building by the École de Nancy (precursor of Art Nouveau in France). Its construction in 1907 brought together the most important artists of the period. The plans were by Gutton, while the interior was designed by cabinetmaker Eugène Vallin. Edgar Brandt designed the staircase banister and master glassmakers Gruber and Champigneulle worked on the stained-glass windows. Burnt down in 1994, it was completely restored between 1996 and 2007, and today retains all its splendor.
