MAGINOT MONUMENT
Monument in the form of a shield signed by Gaston Broquet, inaugurated in 1935 by the President of the Republic Albert Lebrun
There is a regiment, the 44th R.I.T., which welcomed into its ranks the deputy for the Meuse, a certain André Maginot, who volunteered in 1914. Seriously wounded, Maginot resumed his parliamentary activities after the war. On 10 November 1920, he presided over the famous ceremony for the Unknown Soldier organised in the citadel at Verdun. He died in 1932. In 1935, the President of the Republic Albert Lebrun inaugurated this monument in the form of a shield signed by Gaston Broquet. The scene illustrates the rescue of André Maginot, on 8 November 1914, by his companions.
